This explains what personal information HydroDevs collects, why, who it goes to, and what you can do about it. It follows Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector as amended by Law 25, and Canada's PIPEDA.

1.who we are

HydroDevs is operated by 15959217 Canada inc., a corporation incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act and carrying on business as HydroDevs and HydroDevs.com (“HydroDevs”, “we”, “us”). Our operations are based in Quebec. We provide fixed-price Shopify development work to store owners.

The person in charge of the protection of personal information, as required by Law 25, is our Privacy Officer, reachable at privacy@hydrodevs.com.

2.what we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. In practice that means:

When you book a Fix Call
Your name, email address, any details you type into the booking form, and the time you chose. Booking runs on TidyCal, and the $49 fee is processed by TidyCal's payment provider. We receive confirmation that payment succeeded; we never see or store your full card number.
When you email us
Your email address and whatever you write, kept in our mailbox as ordinary correspondence.
When we work on your store
Access credentials or a staff account you grant us, plus whatever store data we necessarily see while diagnosing and fixing the problem. We do not export, copy, or retain your customer lists.
When you visit this site
Standard technical information your browser sends to our host (IP address, browser type, pages requested), plus analytics and advertising data described in section 7.
If you join our mailing list
Your name and email address, and whether you opened or clicked our messages.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 14, and we do not collect sensitive information such as health or financial records.

3.why we collect it

Each purpose is limited to what the work actually requires:

  • To schedule, hold, and invoice the Fix Call
  • To scope, quote, and deliver the work you approve
  • To answer your questions and keep a record of what was agreed
  • To meet our tax, accounting, and legal obligations
  • To understand how this site is used, and to measure advertising
  • To send you the messages you asked for, if you joined the list

We do not sell personal information, and we never have.

4.consent, and taking it back

Booking a call or hiring us is your consent to the processing needed to do that work. Analytics, advertising, and marketing email rest on separate consent, which you give by accepting them and can withdraw at any time.

Withdrawing consent for analytics or marketing does not affect work already underway, and does not stop us keeping records we are legally required to keep. To withdraw, write to our Privacy Officer (section 12) or use the unsubscribe link in any message.

5.who else sees it

We share personal information only with service providers who need it to do their part, and only for that purpose:

  • TidyCal and its payment processor, for booking and collecting the $49
  • Our email provider, for correspondence
  • Our analytics provider, for site measurement
  • Meta and Google, where advertising measurement is enabled
  • Our email marketing provider, if you joined the list
  • Contractors who carry out parts of your job, bound to confidentiality
  • Our accountant and, where legally required, public authorities

Contractors get the narrowest access that lets them do the work, and lose it when the job ends.

6.information kept outside quebec

Several providers named above store data outside Quebec, mainly in the United States. That means the information may be accessible to foreign authorities under the laws of those countries.

Before entrusting personal information to a provider outside Quebec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, as Law 25 requires. If you would like to know where a specific piece of your information is held, ask us and we will tell you.

7.cookies and tracking

This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages people read, and may use advertising measurement from Meta and Google. We do not use cookies to sell anything about you.

Analytics and advertising storage are switched off by default and stay off until you choose otherwise, using Google's Consent Mode. Where the law requires prior consent — including Quebec, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Brazil — we show a bar on your first visit and load nothing until you answer. Elsewhere analytics run unless you decline. To decide which applies, we read your browser's time zone setting; no request is made and no information about you leaves your browser to make that decision.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie choices link in the footer of every page. Declining costs you nothing: every part of this site works the same either way.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not stop you booking a call or reading this site.

8.how long we keep it

  • Booking and project records: seven years after the last invoice, to meet Canadian tax and accounting requirements
  • Email correspondence: up to three years, then deleted
  • Store credentials: revoked or deleted as soon as the job is delivered
  • Analytics and advertising data: per the provider's standard retention, typically 14 to 26 months
  • Mailing list: until you unsubscribe

When a retention period ends, the information is destroyed or anonymised.

9.how we protect it

Accounts are protected with strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication wherever a provider offers it. Access to client stores is limited to the people working on the job and revoked on delivery. Devices are encrypted.

No system is perfect. If a confidentiality incident occurs that presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information promptly, and keep a record of the incident, as Law 25 requires.

10.your rights

Under Quebec and Canadian law you may:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct anything inaccurate, incomplete, or ambiguous
  • Withdraw consent to analytics, advertising, or marketing
  • Ask us to stop disseminating information, or to de-index a link, where the law allows
  • Receive a copy of the computerised information you gave us, in a structured, commonly used technology format
  • Complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

Write to the contact in section 12. We will answer within 30 days. There is no charge, though we may charge a reasonable fee for transcription or reproduction, and we will tell you the amount before we do.

11.automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you based exclusively on automated processing. Every quote, acceptance, and refusal is a human judgment.

12.changes, and how to reach us

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes affecting how we use information already collected will be communicated directly.

Questions, requests, or complaints go to our Privacy Officer at privacy@hydrodevs.com.
